Power of Communication for Parents

Communication alone is a great powerful resource because it is part of the first impression that everyone receives when you are first introduced to each other, which includes what you say to how you pose. Communication is powerful in that it can change the way someone thinks of you instantly. “We need to be able to communicate so that people can know and understand our experience and perspective” (The power of communication, 2004, pg.3).

Using E-mail for Parents

Another great resource is emailing whomever you would like to communicate to. This is a great and effective way to communicate because it allows you to say what you want to say without being nervous due to the presence of another person. It is also good because it allows you to edit and re-read what you are asking for or telling someone so that there are no misunderstandings or misinterpretations.

Another Communicating Tip for Parents

Having a positive attitude and looking interested in what others are saying, as well as having a good posture will help the person become a more effective communicator because others will not be afraid to come up and ask questions. Using the “Communicating through body language” tip will further help our parent develop great communication skills (How to communicate effectively, 2012, para. 15).

Tip for communicating for Parents

One important tip that may be included is to “organize and clarify ideas in your mind” (How to communicate effectively, 2012, para. 5). This tip explains how to organize your tips into steps. For example, you first organize your idea and then you organize your topics to go with the idea. This is because organizing one’s thoughts helps a person stay focused on what they are going to say. This is better than having a whole bunch of ideas mixed up and then later on they end up having to communicate ineffectively because they are jumping from topic to topic.
